Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority managing director Taqsem A Khan’s contract was cancelled on Thursday.
Earlier, managing director’s staff officer Badrul Alam claimed that Taqsem submitted his resignation virtually on Wednesday night.
Additional secretary of local government division Md Mahmudul Hasan said that the interim government cancelled contact of Taqsem on Thursday for the public interest.
Taqsem was appointed Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority managing director in October 2009 and his tenure was extended seven times. His tenure was last extended on October 14, 2023 for three years.
He was accused numerous times of corruption and irregularities.
After Sheikh Hasina’s resignation on August 5, Taqsem did not attend his office.
Following the fall of Hasina’s government, Dhaka WASA employees also staged protests demanding Taqsem’s immediate resignation and arrest.
